Bike and leisure are the perfect combination to enjoy a city, and even more if is Barcelona, where the weather is ideal all the year for this activity. We show you 5 different routes to discover Barcelona and surroundings, for all tastes and with different degrees of difficulty. Because ride the bike does not have to be an excuse, and even more when it’s completely free.
Gaudí Route (15km – Low difficulty)
This route will begin at the Moll de la Marina, opposite the Hotel Arts, where you will continue until the Parc de la Ciutadella. From there you will go around the Born district where we recommend you to make an stop to see the new Mercat del Born reconverted as a cultural center. From there, go straight to your first stop from Gaudi’s Route, the Gaudí’s Square, where you can make some spectacular pictures of the Sagrada Familia, which will be your next stop. From here you will continue straight to the Diagonal until you reach Paseo de Gracia, where you have to turn left and make two mandatory stops: Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. From here you will begin your journey back through the Eixample, a taste of Raval, Ciutat Vella, the Gothic Quarter, Port Vell and ending in la Barceloneta.

Carretera de les Aigües, the balcony of Barcelona (20 km – Average Difficulty, BTT recommended)
This is already a path for those who are a little fitter, but it is worth the effort to visit the best natural balcony over the city of Barcelona. This route starts in the neighborhood of Penitents by the Carretera de les Aigües up to Esplugues de Llobregat, and is fully signposted. If you do not want to climb the mountain by bike, you can always take the Tibidabo or Vallvidrera funicular to go to the very top and from there ride on two wheels.

Woody Allen’s Barcelona (12km – Low difficulty)
For all those lovers of cinema and Woody Allen, this is the perfect route, because you will discover the places chosen by the filmmaker to film “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”. It all starts in Parc Güell, then you will go to the charismatic neighborhood of Gracia to reach the Ronda Guinardó and surround the Hospital de Sant Pau to go down to the Sagrada Familia. Then you will go to Avenida Diagonal, turn down to Paseo de Gracia where you will reach the Raval neighborhood stopping at the MACBA. There you will turn around and set off to the Eixample area until you reach the Plaza de España where your tour ends.

Route of “Chiringuitos” / beach bars from Barcelona to Vilassar de Mar (21km – Difficulty Medium)
This little route through the Maresme is highly recommended in hot seasons, especially spring and summer when the beach bars are open. The route begins at Forum, next to the modern building of Telefónica, and you will need to go north towards the Port of Forum, which you will cross and follow north until you reach the small city of Badalona. From here and to the end of the route, there is a path that takes you to the town of Vilassar de Mar. We recommend you to enjoy the views of Barcelona from its beaches. Remember to stop by all those bars that you feel attracted to, the offer is varied and high-quality cuisine.
