Day 1: the historic heart of Madrid

Start your adventure in the heart of Madrid, in the Plaza Mayor. This emblematic space is perfect for a morning stroll and a coffee on one of its terraces. A few steps away is the Puerta del Sol, where you can see the famous Kilometer Zero and the clock that marks the end of the year in Spain. These emblematic points are only a 10 minute walk from our Central Madrid apartments

That same day in the afternoon, you can take the opportunity to visit the majestic Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral, a modern contrast to the classical architecture of the palace. In addition, we recommend going to La Latina neighborhood, known for its lively atmosphere and where you will find tapas bars and small stores that will allow you to experience the authentic Madrid.

To end that first day, there is nothing better than a stroll along the Gran Vía, where you can admire the emblematic buildings, lights and the bustle of the night. If you are looking for a place to have dinner, the area is full of gastronomic options for all tastes.

Day 2: culture and relax

A good way to start your second day is with a visit to the Prado Museum, one of the most important museums in the world. Enjoy the Spanish art collections, which include works by Velázquez, Goya and El Greco. Also, right next door is the Retiro Park, where you can relax after your visit to the museum, stroll through the gardens and visit the Crystal Palace.

That afternoon, you can take the opportunity to head to Salamanca neighborhood, one of the most elegant areas of Madrid where you will find a wide range of restaurants and exclusive boutiques. It is also easily accessible if you stay in our Soho Madrid apartments, located 20 minutes away by subway.

If you are looking to enjoy Madrid’s nightlife, we recommend dining in one of the many trendy restaurants in the Malasaña or Chueca neighborhoods. Both areas offer a vibrant nightlife, with a wide variety of bars and venues that will make the end of your day perfect.

Useful tips

If you visit Madrid on a weekend and you have time, don’t miss El Rastro, the most famous open-air market in the city. It is ideal to find antiques, souvenirs and enjoy the local atmosphere. We recommend getting around by public transportation and consider the tourist card, which gives you unlimited rides on the metro or bus. Finally, it is important to keep in mind that some of the sites we have mentioned require a ticket, so we advise you to buy it in advance to ensure that the visit can be made on the planned day.
