The snow is a utopian element in Barcelona, but lights, decorations and the Christmas spirit in people make it an ideal city to enjoy Christmas. From MH Apartments, in addition to offering you comfortable accommodation in Barcelona with children, we recommend you the best Christmas activities to enjoy with children and the whole family.

The Christmas tradition is lived with family

There are many activities to experience Christmas in Barcelona with children. The tradition covers the streets and the atmosphere become these dates into one of the most important in the annual city calendar.

You will have the opportunity to visit with children some Christmas markets in Barcelona scattered throughout the city. The Fira de Santa Llúcia, the most well-known Christmas city market, or the Sagrada Familia’s ones are great options to find those figures that we are looking for to decorate the Christmas tree or the Nativity scene dioramas. The Christmas illumination is already another classic activity for the Christmas in Barcelona. Walk around Barcelona’s main streets enjoying the colors of the lights has become a ritual for children and adults.

Christmas at Plaza Catalunya

Bolas de navidad y luces en árbol de navidad

From December 21 to January 4, from 11am to 9pm, and just a few minutes from some of our apartments as MH Liceo, Plaza Catalunya becomes the epicenter of a different Christmas with the Responsible Consumption / Fair trade market. You will find activities of all kinds and you will be able to see the fountains of the square on a different way. Workshops and exhibitions will be held for all audiences with the aim of celebrating the winter solstice in an original way.

Hand the letter to the Three Wise Men

As every January 5, the Three magic Kings or Three Wise Men will arrive to Barcelona on their schooner at 4pm at the Moll de la Fusta. After the welcoming ceremony, Their Majesties will parade the city. The tour will start at 6pm on the avenue of Marquès de l’Argentera and it will go through Pla de Palau, Via Laietana, Plaza de Urquinaona, Plaza de Catalunya, Pelai, Plaza de the University, ronda Sant Antoni, Sepúlveda, avinguda del Paral·lel and Plaza España. The parade will finish at the avinguda Reina Maria Cristina, next to the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, at around 9pm. Royal messengers, pages and thousands of candies (each year they give away more than 7 tons of sweets) will be prepared to fulfill the expectations of all children attending the show. In addition, Barcelona hosts up to 18 neighbourhood parades for those who can’t go to the city centre.

‘Nadal als museus’ (Christmas at the museums)

Christmas in Barcelona with children can also be enjoyed in museums throughout the city. Fundació Miró, CCCB, the Museu d’Arquelogia de Catalunya (Museum of Archeology of Catalonia), the MNAC or the Picasso Museum are just some of the museums that participate in this both christmassy and cultural initiative. Check the schedule of each venue to know what activities have been prepared by the museums of Barcelona for these holidays.
